Biography:

Reverend W. Darin Moore is currently Pastor of the historic Greater Centennial A. M. E. Zion Church in Mount Vernon, NY, one of the most influential congregations in Westchester County.

Rev. Moore brings a wealth of experience as pastor and administrator, having matriculated at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC. A campus leader during his tenure, Rev. Moore served as President of the Student Government Association, as well as a National President of the Pre-Alumni Association of the United Negro College Fund.

Pastoral assignments have included Clarksville and Morning Star A. M. E. Zion Churches in Monroe, NC, Mt. Olivet A. M. E. Zion Church in Greensboro, NC, and Jones Tabernacle A. M. E. Zion Church in Indianapolis, IN, where the congregation more than doubled in the four years Rev. Moore served as pastor.

Rev. Moore has consistently provided significant civic leadership in addition to his ecclesiastical responsibilities. While in Greensboro, he served on the Commission for the Greensboro Coliseum and the County Commission on Children and Youth. In Indianapolis, Rev. Moore served two terms as President of the Board of Directors for the Greater Indianapolis Church Federation, served on the Board of Directors of the Urban Institute of Martin University, and was the Presiding Elder of the Indianapolis District for the A. M. E. Zion Church.

Rev. Moore’s leadership has continued since coming to the Mount Vernon community. In July 2002, Rev. Moore completed an unprecedented second term as President of the Mount Vernon Board of Education. As the Senior Pastor of Greater Centennial A. M. E. Zion Church, he leads one of the largest, fastest growing congregations in Westchester County. The church has a proud 106 year history of economic and community development that has been enhanced by Rev. Moore’s visionary leadership. Currently he serves as 2nd Vice President of the United Black Clergy of Westchester, the Founding Chairperson for Save Our Seed Ministries, and a member of the Westchester County African American Advisory Board. He is also President of the Greater Centennial Community Development Corporation and Greater Centennial Homes, National Director of Young Adults for the A. M. E. Zion Church, member of the Executive Board for the Harriet Tubman Home, Inc. and a member of the Executive Committee for the World Methodist Council. Pastor Moore serves in a host of other church and civic activities.

As an anointed and gifted preacher, Pastor Moore travels extensively teaching and preaching to the glory of God. Additional highlights of Rev. Moore’s ministry since coming to Greater Centennial Church include:

  • Recipient of the James Varick Leadership Medallion for exceptional service to the A. M. E. Zion Church
  • Church membership from 600 in 1993 spiraling to over 3000 members in 2002
